rear leaf spring
so it looks like buying you have a choice between 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 inch width springs... so I measure at the mount area and it seem to be right between, like 2 3/8
which do I get? 1978 standard

You prolly need the 2 1/4" spring. Re-measure it closer to the diff/center. The ends of the springs are flared where they attach to the trailing arm bolts.

The Pace car which has the original on it appears to measure 2 1/4" and 6 leafs.
Also has the FE7 Gymkhana Suspension. I don't know if that would make any difference.

FE7/Gymkahana springs were 6 leaf. Regular suspensions had 9 leafs.

F4Gary said: I thought it was 7 and 9.
Depends on if you count the really short one at the top of the stack....some places do, some don't.
