CAT = 3.08 Heavy Dooty Posi unit for a 454 engine
318 = the Julian date the diff was assembled(sometime in early November)
70 = I'm assuming would be for the '70 model year, but I'm not sure...
W = Warren Motive...the plant where the diff was assembled OR Warner Gear supplied posi unit...not sure how the earlier units were identified.

Anthony(Ten15) has informed me that the dating on the earlier diffs is different than later ones...so. the Julian date I posted is not correct.
The correct date would be 3-18-70(318 70)
