Guys, I have to admit, I was a little worried about getting a hassel regarding returning the P-Valve to Ecklers.

I emailed them with the symptoms, and mentioned that some experts had determined that the valve was bad.  Expecting the worse, I was dreading coming home and opening my email program....

The first email was from Ecklers.... 'sorry about the problem, we'll send you one right away at no cost to you - sorry about the wait.'  THEY DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR THE DEFECTIVE ONE BACK!  I have to add here that they only charged $57 plus shipping for this part originially, where everyone else wanted OVER $100 for the exact same part!  Although I don't have the replacement in hand yet, I really have to give kudos to Ecklers.com!

Even over here in Oz, I've never had a hassle with Ecklers.  They send me new catalogues all the time and their prices are reasonable. Chips5838916.6455902778

Hey Adam,

I received that replacement P valve, and as I was about to install it, I noticed that the new one's Safety Valve also looks off center.  Does that mean that it is also defective, or could it be that way since there is no pressure in the valve?

Dave, the valve will need to be installed, and the system bled. Then, start the car, and give the pedal a good, firm push to the floor(or as far as it will go). This should center the valve, if it is off-center. Once you do that, go back over, and re-bleed the system. If the valve is off-centered to start with, it will keep fluid from getting to one end or the other of the car.
Install, bleed, apply brakes firmly, re-bleed, and you should be good to go.(This is how to do it if you are using a pressure-bleeder, or a vaccuum bleeder. If you are a "pump it up" bleeder, this won't be needed)
Be sure to check the new valve after a few miles for seepage.

All set now, worked just like you said - manual bleed, took only one time, brakes work perfectly now!  Thanks again
