I want to switch drive trains, found a 1990 Camaro 350 serpintine belt system, 5 speed with air. I believe the system will fit without changing the hood but am wondering about the shifter placement as I do not want to cut the floor also is the cross member from the Camaro going to fit as mine is not the bolt in type and will have to be cut out? I will be keeping the original engine and tranny and removing it with all components in place--for replacement if future generations want to go back original(number match).

Haven't checked out the tranny type but it is factory and has a hydrolic clutch. Will mounting and converting to a hydrolic clutch be a problem and has anyone accomplished this procedure?

many of those modern transmission can be bolted right on to a muncie/borg bell housing and use the stock clutch
converting to a hydraulic is more involved.. but there is an article about doing this on keisler site
most people seem to make the hydraulic conversion when installing on an automatic..
and they use stock bellhousing, clutch, etc on original stick cars
