well one side is just about back togather...rotor and caliper not on but, everything else seams good. WOW what a job, I used the method of compressing the little keeper springs with dental floss and when everything else was in place...lit a match to it....SNAP...everything snugged right up!  I felt like "MCGIVER" .....had to bend a little more angle into the shoe return springs though ...just enough so they would sneak  into the holes they need to go to. I am definately trying to to the best job that I can even if it takes a few more days...DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS AGAIN!! I am glad I covered the shoe faces with tape before assembly...keeps 'em nice and clean. Anybody that needs to do this job, You have my sympathy!!

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.

I can see that this is something to pay someone else to do.  I just love reading this stuff.  The more I read the less I'm inclined to do some of these things myself.

Did GM go out of their way to make thing hard to do on a Corvette?

This does leave me to wonder....as I wind the keeper springs with dental floss, and thread the hardware togather like Christmas garlin....IS THIS HOW THE CHEVEROLET GARAGE WOULD GET IT DONE?? I can not even imagine it. I assume they would drop the rear out and the costomer who wore out there parking brakes prematurely would have to pay a big price for a big job. I bet the assumption was....who could possibly wear out a parking brake!................OH WELL it is 40 years later Big%20smile

Dude..............The brakes on my 71 were completly replaced all the way around, however the parking brake was not hooked up. Now I know why. And it might just stay that way. Wacko

The return spring fell off mine and the shoe was laying against the drum all the time. I tore it out and put new S/S parts in there if anythings goes now it's staying that way.

It is a different project when you can start from scratch and in a assembly plant then when you try to repair stuff some 30+years later. Keep the faith.
The best projects are yet to come.
