I'm looking for opinions on the best way to deal with slow seeping of oil from around the drain plug.  I am not losing a noticeable ampunt, nor is there any problem in the engine, but I can see a little oil around the drain plug and it reappears after I wipe it.  Any advice will be appreciated.

Try a new gasket on the drain plug first. While you have the plug out, check very carefully around the threaded hole in the pan for cracks.

You may need a new pan or plug.
Not very expensive.

Try using the copper washer/gasket instead of the nylon.

I agree with Dave, back in the good ol days the were standard issue.

I've thought about using teflon tape a time or two but never gave it a whirl. Can't see any harm in it though.
