Plan on getting a new engine from an reputable builder. They are going to set it up card, dist ect.
Is there a way to prime the oiling system prior to start up, without removing the distributer.
May be an air operated system ? any one here know?

There must be something out there, I was paging through either Jegs or Summit (I think ?) and recall seeing an expensive oil pressurizing device.

I was thinking that myself. I nitice a lot of vehicle that are distrbuterless, how do the get primed. Im sure just cranking the motor wont do.
I will continue to look.

Here is a device that is meant to pre pressurize the oil every time you start. I suspect it could be connected one time, and pressurized with air to accomplish what you want. Most people use a device that fits into the distributor hole and spins the pump. If you mark the distributor location, and the alignment of the oil pump shaft, you can take your distributor out and put it back in.

Yes it will prime just cranking the engine. BUT I don't recommend it. That means you are cranking the engine without oil until it primes. With a good rebuild, that should not be a problem due to prelube and assembly lube, BUT how long has it been from assembly, and did some of the prelube drain away? Usually not but it's possible.
When you use the engine crank method, be sure to disable the ignition. You don't want it to start. In addition, don't crank for more than about 15 seconds at a time, then let the starter cool for a minute. Yes, it's almost counter productive to let it wait, but you won't burn up the starter.
I would just remove the dist, and do it that way.
