I recently purchased a 71 coupe and noticed that the oil sender line was not hooked up to the engine anywhere, since the previous owner made some engine modification, i.e. manifold.

Any recommendations on where it can be connected?

Thank you.

It's an sb (350 Lt-1), but there is no hook up. Just looking for an alternative. Thanks.

Look for a plug in the top of the block behind the intake, a replacement shouldn't have covered it up.
Does this mean you have no gauge at all? |no-no|

I'll check, but I don't recall if there is a plug.

The line was left disconnected, so I didn't get a reading.

Thanks.

It should be on the right side of the motor, near the distributor.
I have no idea why someone would disconnect something as critical as that gauge. |headscratch|

To the right of the distributor, there appears to be a sensor. I'm wondering whether the previous owner updated to an electrical pressure switch...humm. Regardless...it still is not plugged into anything. It has a single slip on connector. Does this sound familiar?

Chest, the single wire connector sensor by the distributor is in fact an electric oil pressure sending unit. You found it.
If you have an electric gauge you are set. But if you have a mechanical gauge, you know where to connect it to the engine.

I don't have the electronic gauge, so I'll try the mechanical first and see if it works. I not sure that an electrical gauge is made for the gauge cluster for this year.

Thanks to all of you for your help.

Best Regards,
Chet
