Offset trailing arms

Hi all, I am putting on affset trailing arms to allow wider tires in the rear. I am about 75 percent done and have been taking pics of the job. (except I forgot to take any of the disassembly of the original ones). When I get it done, if anyone is interested, I can post a step by step guide.
I am going to Mexico friday and will be gone for 12 days but I will finish the job when I get back and let you know.

I am really interested, too, and I'd love to find out just how much extra room you *really* get over the stock config.

Hi Patricia, I now have 13 inch wide tires on with the offset trailing arms, but there is still enough room left that I could probably fit 15 or 16 inch wide tires. Although, I can no longer use my rear stabilizer bar as it would hit the tires I have on now.

With the offset arms, you gain a lot of room there, but what about the spring? There isn't a lot of room to grow in that area. Joe

You are right Joe, There isn't much room there. I only have about 1/2 inch between the end of the spring and the tire. When I jack the car off the ground, the spring hits the tire. But the further down the rear of the car gets, the more clearance I get.

Hi Mark, In regards to installing the offset trailing arms, I was thinking about taking on that task for my car but was advised that I would have to "shave" to much from the frame and it would weaken the frame. Did you have to cut away any part of the frame for your installation. Keith

Hi Keith, no I didn't have to shave the frame to get them in. I probably should have though, because it is going to be hard to change the shimming for alignment. The inner side of each arm is only about 1/16 inch from the frame making it nearly impossible to get to the shims. It can still be done, but it's a pain in the @$$. I was going to post some pics of the job, but the computer at my shop with all the pics on it decided to puke the hard drive and I lost everything.
