Vette(s): 1973 Coupe Blk/Tan Auto Forsale 1972 Convertible, being transformed to a James Garner Racing Replica

I have to remove rear spindles and replace what sound like worn wheel bearings. I have read up all I can and noticed the recomendation of a spindle knocker vs. a spindle press.

This is my first endeavour to self mechanic in a long time. Suggestions on where I can rent one of these spindle knocker's in the Lewisville Area 75077?

Thanks, in advance for the help.

Robert

AutoZone is a good place for tool rentals - some locations have limited types - don't know if there is a location near you

Hope it  helps  Good Luck

Thanks for the quick replay, I did a search on spindle knocker here.

Should of done that first.

I have no real history on my new hobby.

I think I will save my pennies for a while and go the entire trailing arm replacement route through Fast Corvette. It looks like reworking the assembly myself is more that my simple skills are capable of doing without some serious help. At least I will know everything is set right and safe for the Spring.

Thanks, I will do that. My kids tell me I am not the patient type so the location of Fast Corvette being 30 minutes from my house might be to close to resist. Strange, I never knew they were there until I found this wonderful place.

Robert, my shop is in Irving. If you want, I can help with your brng. set-ups. Shoot me a PM or e-mail, if you need any help. I can also recommend a couple of 'Vette shops within 10-15 minutes of you.

On a brighter note , I would like to invite you to one of our local club meetings(Corvette Legends). Next one is in, amazingly enough........you guessed it.....Lewisville!!    (Dec. 10th.) After the club meeting, some of the members will be participating in a holiday parade in Flower Mound. Adams' Apple38685.9210300926

Fast Corvette is not my first choice. I bought all my parts to rebuild the trailing arms from them 1-1/2 yrs ago. They did not send all the parts I ordered and they sent some I did not order as well. I emailed them several times to try and get the bearing shims but was not successful in acquiring them. I need a thinner shim than what I had so I used a surface grinder at work to get it to the thickness needed. I had to email several times to get my refund and I never did get an invoice to show what parts I had purchased. So they are no longer on my list of suppliers. I guess if they were only 30 minutes away it might have been easier.
