My 72 LS5's 454 has an 8" Harmonic Balancer. The timing cover looks like it hade a tab welded on but you can see it has been broken off. Is this the right size Harmonic Balancer and can I get one of those bolt on Timing Tabs. I Bought the car about a year ago not running. The guy's wife made him sell it to remodel her kitchen.

Thanks for any advice.

You already have the answer.  The bolt on timing tab.

Just to be sure it's the right one, turn the engine by hand until the dist rotor is approaching the number one cylinder on the dist cap.  Then take out the number one spark plug.  Turn the engine to so the piston comes up to the top.  You can use a soft plastic straw to reach into the cylinder and help feel the top position.   There will be a very small amount of rotation where you can't feel the piston move.  Go to the center of this area, and you will be at top dead center.   If the bolt on timing indicator shows the same thing, ( or very close if you are just a touch off )  and you will be in good shape.

Hey Thanks, I'll order one tomorrow and I think I'll go find TDC right now. I never thought about the straw, thats a great idea.
Thanks again.
