Hi Guys, Another question about my steering situation. I have a small amount of play in my steering wheel. Could the lite thump??????? be when the play catches the rag joint or steering box when I turn. I hope this is not a dumb question and can be understood. My lack of knowledge is showing. THANKS, Gene

If the rag joint is torn completely, it can absolutely make a thump noise as it hits the metal stops on the joint. If you take your finger, and just flick the steering wheel back and forth just a little, you should be able to feel the thump thru the wheel, if it is the rag joint.
