Okay, last night I popped the hood and could not hear a vacuum leak!  I traced the vacuum lines to the headlights...no problem there.  Rough idle and ticking sound still present.  Called the service manager at 7 AM this morning and he could hardly remember who I was...guess he's had many 82 CE's in for "aligment, swollen batttery, new alternator syndrome" in the last 2 weeks, BUT he did offer "to take a look at er" if we wanted to bring it in!!!!

Thanks to everyone for there comments and help.  I'll keep you posted!

This is a great site, but I really hope I don't have to use it that often:)

It is a great site and you can use it anytime, even if you are not having any problems.

I just thought of something...
Uh...ya reckon a plug wire has come off/loose, or melted by the plug? That would give ya a rough runnin engine, and the "ticking" noise...sorry I didn't think of that earlier...
Sure would be nice if that's all it is, tho, eh?

And Brian is right...please don't just visit when ya has a problem!! We're always having fun around here, too!!! It ain't ALL techie stuff!

Thanks guys!  I didn't mean I only visit when I have a problem.  Hell, I spend the first hour of my day on this site reading about everything.  After I've been around for a while I'll start throwin' in my 2 cents, but remember I'm a newbie and I don't want to look like a jackass!!!

Once again, thanks for the advice!

Based on my recent trip to the Museum, I'd definitely take a look at the plug wires to see if you have a burnt one or perhaps the tech "had" to pull two or more plug wires and got them crossedAngry.

I burnt up three wires on the way to Bowling Green and got to work on my car under a small shade tree at the Museum, THANKS 71Shark and Redwingvette!
