I am seeking advice on lowering my 82 just for show. Has anyone here done this? I would like to hear any type of advice or experience. Thanks!

Vette(s): 1972 Coupe Anything, but Stock and more mods to come! SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.
Three Options.

1. This is permanent. Cut the fron springs and get some extended spring end link bolts for the rear. You can get these from Vette Brake Products. The more you thread up the rear spring end bolts the lower the rear will be.

2. Same as number one, but remove the front Coils and replace with air bags. Talk to air ride Technologies. I pretty sure it can be done, even though I have not seen anyone do it. May require some fabrication.

3. Buy the Vette Brakes Mono Leaf Front suspension kit, and their Rear Suspenstion kit. This is what I've done and I can now lower my front and rear by simply turning the spring end bolts. Also you get the adjustability of ride control on the front, and you shead a lot of weight off the front. Bolt on parts!!!!! This is the way too go. Just remember to measure your front and rear ride heights before installing so you have a starting point for setting your ride heights after installed.

VPB has a 550 front coil spring about $75Pair,they will lower your car 1 inch this is a hard riding spring ,I am running 440 springs with all the mods the front gained about a 1" in height I thought I wanted to lower it with these springs until I was parking one day and noticed the curb went under the car and diden't rip off the air dam . still thinking about it ......

|headscratch| I found just the opposite to be true. The more I cranked on the wrench the higher the body went. With the adjusting nut nearly at the end of the bolt it sat lower. Why else would you need the extended bolt?

I lowered mine 2 inches front & back it looks great & the ride is still comfortable. I really think they look much better lowered.

My appologies you are correct. You loosen to lower and tighten to raise. Vette Brakes sell longer spring end bolts to give additional range for lowering and raising the height of our C3's. I Haven't measured the length on the rear spring end bolts, but the fronts are 8" long with the front mono-leaf spring system.

I,m with you here in new york state is no place for a low rider .some of the guys in my vette club have said my 78 sits much higher than thiers and it saves a lot of wear and tear on mufflers and under bumper air scoops ron 78 |thumb| |wavey| |bouncy| |saluteflag| |withstupid|

Guys I have had mine lowered for about 3years now & I haven't had any problems yet in fact I am going to drop the back another 1 inch this week. My mufflers sit right up beside the spare wheel there the only two mufflers I have.Also I have taken the cat off so that gives me a little more clearance.
