That line is part of the EFE system. Part of the system that warms up the motor faster. It goes to the vacuum actuator that opens and closes the exhaust pipe valve on the passenger side. The thermo switch in the thermostat housing opens that valve when the temp is at operating level. Without the switch and hoses the valve will stay closed and keep passing exhaust heat through the intake manifold passage under the carb. I guess you could remove the flapper in the exhaust pipe or wire it open. Does your new manifold have the crossover passage in the middle? If not, you may as well disconnect that whole system. Mike
edit..in short, cold warmup will take a little longer.

I see no difference in warm up time...maybe the EFE wasn't operating properly anyway?
