Mine is mounted in the front of the storage compartment where the jack is kept. I have a box that has a keypad to enter peramiters for the box, and it just lays in the center compartment. I have had no problems with it. I have a MSD magnetic pick up distributor and an epoxy filled coil in the engine compartment. As long as you are aware of the procedures for longs runs of critical electric leads, there should be no problem.

MSD or any CD system that has a control box don't like heat, as you know our cars get hot as hell under the hood, when the box goes out get on the cell and call for the car hauler, some years back when CD ign's were coming on the seen, I bought the best Mallory had to offer,MSD? who's that, mallory was a good product then, on my 69 L36, I mounted the box on the inner fender down by the gilles on a steel bumper car,boy what a dumb s#!+, right where all that hot air exits the engine compartment, the boxes lasted about 3000 miles each, thats right two boxs before I threw the whole setup in the trash, I'v used MSD on my circle dirt cars and we mount them in the wind where cool air gets to them, no problem, I run a reworked HEI in my vette's by Davis Ign's, but if I ran a spark box in a vette, I would mount it in front of the radiator bulkhead, just about the same place GM mounted their spark box for their transistor ign's anips38456.8802314815
