I am about to increase the horse power in my C3. It is a 1976 L48. That means it was stock with only 180hp. My motor exchange will be 450hp with 580ft/lbs of torque. What do I need to do with the rear? Change half shafts? Change rear diff? The transmission is already swapped and it will take the power. What is the difference between the L48 rear end and say... the 70 big blocks? Any ideas?

Hi Owen,
There is a company a few miles from my house www.dennysdriveshaft.com that makes and sells heavy duty halfshafts "Nitrous Ready" for high HP/Torque vettes. They guarantee that if you can break'em or twist'em, they will replace them for free. Very reputable company. I would also put in a heavy duty rear end cover, and make sure that your rear wheel bearing are in good shape. Hope this helps!
Just "Copy" then "Paste" the website I listed to check them out

Thanks! I will look into the stouter half shafts. Although the complete rear has just been rebuilt, I was concerned about the HP increase. I also saw the half shaft loops available for the C3's. What were the production differences between the early big blocks and the mid seventy L48's as far as the drive line?
