I picked up a mini starter. Got tired of the Heat Sink game. It came with 2 shims for the bolts and a round shim for the internal.

Depends. I'd bolt it on and see how it works. If it makes a lot of noise, then add one shim, and try again, until you're out of shims.

If it makes a whine, add shims. If it make a grind or clash noise, remove shims.
