I need some help on this. I just bought a 76 vette and i need to find out if the motor that is in the car is the original motor. Im not sure how to go about this so if any body that can help me i`d appriciate it greatly.

Look on the "engine Stamp Pad" for the engine ID code/VIN numbers...they should match the last 6 VIN #s on the windshield plate.

You should find two numbers stamped on the pad at the front of the right head.

Larger number is the engine identification stamp; smaller number is the VIN derivitive.

According to the numbers its not the original motor. The numbers didnt match at all so, oh well. Not sure whats in it though.

Ok, part 2. I just, AKA finally, found a site and ran the number on the driver rear of the motor and it shows to have came in the 69-79 vettes and its a 350 so its possible that is a factory motor but i dont have solid proof since the numbers dont match up.
The front plate reads;V0919TKK-C8F316392, the rear # As best i can tell bc the metal is roughed up is 3970010, and the last6 in the vin are 105590.
