I've acquired a engine the shop owner says is a LT-1,casting numbers on back of block GM5.7LG ,14093638.which seems to agree with his claim of 1987 vette motor.Front numbers are V1016ZLC and 1H5108494.Alum...head front outside 27613 inside casting numbers are 14101128 also F2 and 6252 (1).Beyond it being a 1987 with 58cc heads I couldn't figure any thing out .Going to replace a high milage L-48 in my 73 vette.Does anyone know more about this engine and are my plans to swap a good idea???????????.        Thanks Captain Ron ,Homosassa Fl.

Not an "LT1" at all if it came out of an '87 Corvette.
The casting number was used from '86-'94, so, if it had been used in a later('92-4) car, it could be called an LT1, however...it actually came from an '87 car.
V1016ZLC
V= Flint Assy plant
101 = Jan 1st assembly date
ZLC = '87 TPI 240hp  Corvette, manual trans w/external engine oil cooler

So it's an L98 out of an '87, maual transmission equipped Corvette. You'll have to make sure the heads have all of the tapped holes needed to mount your alternator, A/C, and smog pump. The oil dipstick will be on the other side, too. The only issue I can think of would be the flywheel...if this engine has the one-piece rear main seal, your original flywheel will not work on it.
