I need advice on lowering my '82 for show. I have not seen lowering springs in any of the catalogs however have seen the "grand touring" springs, but the ride height drop in not specified. I am considering 265/50-15s on my stock alloys, plus a 2" drop.
I would like to hear your opinion on how to do this simply or properly. No, I am not trying to create a "lowrider" with murals painted on the panels. I would just like like to experiment on creating a longer sleeker effect on the shark body.
Thanks guys!

Dropping the rear ride height is pretty easy, just crank on the bolts on either end of the spring until you get the level you want. I'm not sure about adjusting the front level, I'm sure somebody else should know.

Ok you can get longer rear spring bolts with more threads and crank down on them to lower the rear. You can buy new springs for the front, or heat your existing springs (this will destroy them).
My suggestion is DON'T LOWER the car, especially if you want to drive it. Its costing me 1K for suspension parts to get my 80 back up where it belongs. I'm tird of leaving part of car on every stone, ramp or speed bumb I go over.

Ron,
As others have stated, you can lower the rear by installing longer spring bolts. The front can be lowered by cutting a 1/4 turn at a time from the front spring....or ordering custom made springs ($$). Either of these mods can be reversed if needed.
Just remember....don't get to low...the roads in Houston aren't the smoothest....

I lowered my 79 and love it i bought new lower control arms and a transverse leaf like the new cars from vette brakes it cost around 1000.00 for the front and a new rear fiberglass spring it improved the rid and is adjustable about 3" i am verry happy with the mods.
