No.....Disapprove

At least the rotor is not riveted anymore. Once you get the rotor off, you cna snake the old stud out, and a new one in. It ain't easy, mind you, but it am possible. I've had to do it on my '74 a couple of times....dadgummit....Angry

This may sound warped but you all will understand what i mean.....
ebowoman (my wife) asked me last night..... " Do you really enjoy working on this car?"
I replyed "yes I do"!
"I just don't like when it acts badly on road trips."
Some people talk about a scheduled PM program for their cars like flushing out the brake system every so many years. Does anyone have this kind of schedule?
It may be the way to go and maybe cut down on the surprises.....?Confused

Vette(s): 1982 Black, ZZ4, Hooker Side Pipes, 3.55 Rear, Rebuilt & upgraded 700R4, All new suspension, brakes, & new Charcoal interior.
Every spring & fall I go over the car & look for stuff that might be questionable and I try to take care of things before they happen.
You can't at it as a low milage car, it's over 30 years old and that is what determines alot of issues that come up.
You also could jack up the radiator cap & put a C5 under it.
Too bad we weren't closer, could give you a hand, good luck with it.

Well I have next week off for spliting wood, but evening and rain days will be working on the vette.
Slow and steady, and yes it's 32 years old, I keep saying that. LOL

Removed both rear calipers, SS line's, and brake hoses. Took rotor off without to much trouble, knocked the stud back.......and spent an hour trying to get it out.
Removed star adjuster and rotated it to the bottom.....no way... its about 1/16 to long.
I know I could get it out but I'd have to shorten the new one or make it look like a nascar stud to get it back in. The grips still looked decent on the stud so I cleaned it well and slapped on a bit of JB Weld and reseated it (sorry Joel) will let it dry over night. I'll just put some never sieze on that stud and try not to over torque it.
That's it for tonight. (heh i'm on my own clock!)

OK, the Brake overhaul is complete and the test drive a success.
I was a bit nervous about removing and rebuilding the Master Cylinder. All the horror stories about getting all the air out during bench bleeding. It was actually a pretty easy job!
I bought one of those 6 dollar 1 man bleeding kits and it worked great, even used it to bleed the calipers.
ebowoman helped me with the final pumping until we had a hard pedal, went around maybe 6 times.
I took quite a few step by step pictures and will put an article together.
 
Now it's onto "Project Red" but that will be another thread......
