Looking for recomendations on 17' wheels and tire

I am going to put 17" wheels on my 1973 Stingray but I am not sure of the tire size or any dimentions. Can anyone help me on this. I want to avoid any tire rubbing or major modifications. I am tring to make this as painless as possible. I wuould appriciate the help. Thanks

I have 17x8 torq thrust II's on my '78. 4 inches of backspacing, 5 3/4 bolt pattern. Your 73 should be the same. 255 50 17 Tires all around. The tires rub on the frame in the front but it's no big deal. You can avoid this by putting thinner tires in the front, 235 maybe? The part number is 5057861 for the wheels. Ive read on this site and from emailing both boyd coddington (billet-wheel.com) and intro wheels (intro-wheels.com) that 4.5 inch backspacing is the correct amount
