I'm changing the hold down on my valve covers from studs back to bolts....my question is what is what size bolts are used with the black finned alumnimum covers.(1/4-20 x?)

Found one I replaced. Measures 1" from below the head. Some of the suppliers sell the corect replacements for the finned aluminum covers.

Ya gotta figure in the thickness of the gaskets, too. There are some out there that are about twice as thick as originals...most aftermarket gaskets seem to be a little thicker. So, if you happen to have the cast covers with thick gaskets, the 1 1/4" will prolly be correct.
