Debbie, that is awesome! I'm still kicking myself for not doing a stroker motor.
So do you have any specs on the engine? Like approx. HP + Torque ratings. Type of cam, pistons etc.
Congrats! Sarge |thumb|

PS, Let us know how that thing flys when you get it in.

At the risk of embarrassing myself here, may I ask what is a "stroker motor" and why is this something apparently sought after? |headscratch|

Part of the reason I'm asking is that I'm planning an engine swap in the spring and I'm still in the "what do I want to put in there" stage.

a strocker is just that a motor that has a longer stroke in the bore of the cylinder. If you had a 350 and bought a strocked crankshaft it would become a 383. Or if you want Chevy sells crate engines that are already stroked.

I forget exactly how it goes, but ESPN2 was talking about this. The longer stroke is better for...higher torque and some hp. A shorter stroke is for higher horses at higher rpms. Pretty sure that's how it goes. I guess the shorter stroke would also decrease the displacement?

To tell ya the truth ..no I don't.

A friend in my Vette Club bought a 74 and this was the engine that was in it.
Is a very new rebuild and I was impressed with it.

To make a long story short..She was going to do an engine swapped( she wants to RACE!!:)) and asked me if I wanted the engine.

AFter we get the engine in my Vette will get it dynoed and see just how much HP and torque there is.

Vette(s): 69 coupe with recent body off restoration.
The 383 cubic inch "stroker" is the result of putting a 400 cu in crank in a 350 cu in block. You can build a de-stroked engine, like the early HP Camaro's, by using a 283 crank in a 327 block. This yields a 302 cu in engine. As already stated, this engine will produce peak power higher up the band. There is a direct correlation to how fast you go and the depth of your pockets. Have fun with that 383.
