I hate losing posts... |hammer| |cussing|

I'm replacing the tired steel leaf spring on my 75 l48 coupe this weekend. I hope to use a composite spring based on weight savings and good recommendations. I don't have a lot of money to spend on this but would like to keep a good looking ride height and have a fairly reliable spring. I've only got a weekend, I know replacing the spring won't take that long since I pulled the steel spring and put it back to replace the differential seal in a short time.

What composite rear leaf spring do you recommend? (Keep in mind pricing, reliability and availability)

What additional hardware would I need? (I just replaced all the factory hardware when I had the steel spring out a month or two ago)

Any pitfalls I should be aware of for changing a steel spring to a composite one?

Thanks!
Scot

I was very pleased with the spring from Vette Brakes. Not the cheapest, but everything about it was correct and provided the correct ride and ride height. They include everything with the kit for the installation.

I can't think of any pitfalls. Just be prepared for better handling and ride.

I just got a 330lb VBP spring which was ordered from Ecklers. I've installed but have not yet dropped the car off the stands. Have a few other items to finish. Once it hits the ground, I'll let you know.

Price $339 on the web.

I put the VBP 330 lb spring & kit on last spring. If you have had yours apart reasently you should have no problem. I suggest you get the spring & kit, it comes with all the hardware you need. Make sure you get the extended spring bolts, with them you can adjust ride heigth anywhere you want, and it makes it a lot easer to install the new spring. The spring & kit is $340.00. I am not sure if the stock spring hardware will work with the a mono spring.

Thanks Glenn
