Whats the consensus about putting a rebuilt original Q-jet on an Edelbrock performer manifold?( Stock replacement dist. and mild cam, auto trans,no emmisions devices)Does a performer intake bolt up to vortec heads or do I need to look at another intake...350,former L48

No, the bolt pattern and taller intake ports on L31 Vortec heads won't work.

They do offer Vortec heads that are drilled and tapped for both bolt patterns but the intake ports on the old style intake aren't as tall as the openings on the head. So you won't get the full benefit of using a set of Vortecs IMO.
You'll have to use a Edelbrock Vortec Performer manifold #EDL-2116 or GMPP #12496820.

Just a word of warning if anyone is thinking of putting an Edelbrock performer on with a 600 Holley with vacuum secondaries.  You will need a 1/16" spacer between the manifold and carb so the secondaries vacuum operating quadrant will clear the EGR blanking plate on the manifold.  Otherwise your secondaries will never open.
