I don't know all the differences, but the L82 has a higher compression ratio, different model Quadrajet carburetor, different intake manifolds (aluminum for the L82, cast iron for the L48), different cams, cast aluminum pistons for the L48, forged aluminum for the L82, dual cold air inlets for the air cleaner and carb instead of one (through '78 I think), a four bolt mains forged crankshaft where the L48 has a two bolt mains cast crank. I believe they each use the same cylinder heads.
There may be other differences, but those are the ones I know of.

the only diff. in the heads are the l82 has 2.02 intake and 1.6 ex. compared to 1.94 and 1.5 for the l48
