Does it do it when you first start off from a
stop? If so, it may be the posi-clutch pack in the rear differential.
Time for a fluid change and a bottle of positrac fluid. If it does it
all the time then it probably is not the rear end. But this is the most
likely source if a "clunk".

U-joint
Front trailing arm bushing
Shock mount (upper and/or lower)
Axle flange loose where it bolts onto the spindle
Spindle nut loose
sooo many possibilities...
Wheel brngs normally make a growl/ginding noise at all speeds...
Posi clutches will normally chatter/clunk when turning...
Does this noise happen when accelerating, coasting, when?
Front trailing arm bushing

IT does not do it all the time, yes I hear it when starting from a stop, I hear it the most at slow speeds such as when I am slowing down turning into the garage with foot on the brake. It also doesn't happen right away only after a driving a couple of miles.... Thks

Can you see if there is any slop in the U-joints?
I had a similar clunk and it was the U-joints.

I will take a look at the joints> I assume I need to have the wheels off the ground and car in nuetral to see if there is play.. any other suggestions on how to check out the U-joints, I am also going to try the fluid change

You won't be able to check the half-shaft u-joints with the tires hanging...there will be tension on them from the suspension. You'll need to check them with the car on the ground, or jack stands under the shock mount, so there is weight on the suspension. The driveshaft joints can be checked wit it in the air with no problem.

I finally have the time to look into this. I have gotten 3 bottles of new fluid and the Posi Trac fluid. I have sucked out about 50 oz of fluid and no matter where I position the suction gun I get nothing else out. The three bottles are 23 oz each plus 4 oz for the posi fluid. this is 73 oz.
My question is how do I know when the rear is full? I assume I could have been low on fluid which could have been the reason for the Klunking noise, but there seems to be a big difference from what I took out and what the dealer told me to put in
