Well while I've been home for spring break I took the oppertunity to install my VB&P suspension kit. That went quickly and fitted good. I decided to replace the brake pads while I was at it. Well apparently I forgot to reinstall the cotter pin holding the pin that keeps the pads in place on the front left caliper... I was driving back from D&M corvette after they aligned the car and someone pulled out in front of me, so I hit the brakes hard, and I felt a loud clunk and heard something fall off the car and made severe grinding sounds. At first thought a ball joint broke but turned out my pads fell out. I stopped all right but I shredded my caliper pistons and disk. Crap crap crap. I feel so dumb and careless, I could have killed myself. Oh well I'll get back to you guys later on how the new suspension turned out.Tumarr38429.021087963

Shows your human, and  lucky nothing else happened.  Nothing can scare you like a failure on the road.  There have been a few customer cars in the past that scared me to death.

Very sorry to hear about the damage, but very glad to hear you are okay. That's the most important thing.

Calipers & rotors can be replaced, but Tumarr can't. Glad you didn't do any more damage than that.

Well it turned out to be a about $150 mistake not putting in the cotter pin. I put in the new caliper and rotor and another set of brake pads and made damn sure it was all set up right. I took it out to a big empty parking lot to test the handling on my vette. It is incredible! I am making incredible g's with out much fuss and it sticks to the pavement like glue. Thanks for the nice words guys, it did make me feel better. I sure did learn to double check things like brake work. Tumarr38429.5548611111

Which kit did you buy? Did you get the front and rear?

it was the street and salom kit. 550 lbs front coils, composite rear, bilstine shocks, ez camber ajuster things and some of the thickest sway bars I have ever seen.

Too bad about the brake pads and really glad nothing serious and no one was hurt. I always take it easy on the car after mods until I become comfortable with it. We always feel like we do good work or else we wouldn't be doing our own work.

Sounds like the suspension is gonna work out nicely for you.
