I have a 71 LT1 that is stock except for Accel coil. When timing is set to book spec 8 degrees btdc car has small miss from idle to 6000 rpm. With timing set to 12 degrees btdc car run perfect as far as I can tell. Should I leave it at 12 or reset to 8 and try and find another cause for the miss?

Thanks
Neil

|withstupid| Factory setting is only for smog/gas mileage. My 73 was set at 14 from the factory. According to the chart I have the set point changed from year to year and which engine it has. I had mine recurved so it would get to 36 degree's at 2800 rpm's for better performance. At idle it is at 16btdc.

Dito with Brian. Mine is also set to 36 degrees BTDC by 2500-3000 RPM. Much better response with the only down side of a little harder when cranking over. |biggrin|
