Vette(s): 1970 T-Top350/350hp numbers matching 4 speed. It's a mess and 1970 Convertible 4 speed.
I just took out the engine and I need to drop the transmission as well. I have disconnected every thing. Do I drop the the transmission cross bar or just undo the two bolts if I do that do I just slide the tyranny forward?. Do I have to take off my console and disconnect anything there? I am right in the middle of this and was not planning to drop the tyranny. What about the u joint will the shaft just slide forward?Cry

You can unbolt the trans mount, and slide the trans forward to clear the crossmember. The yoke will stay on the driveshaft unless you take the four bolts out of it. Either way is fine. You should have the shifter cable, cooler lines, vac. modulator line, and the detent/kickdown wire disconnected.Adams' Apple2007-05-20 11:17:50

So Apple there is nothing to do with the shifter when I disconnect the cables from underneath?

Nope...the shifter cable is disconnected from the bottom. Sorry for the delayed response...I took a nap!
