Boy, that would be smart! No, I didn't. I just loosened the nut and turned the stud. Guess I should check that. I did what Joel said. I ended up backing it off some to get lock to lock smootheness, it still took most of the slop out, so I'm very pleased, for now at least.

This is the same type issues on My 77 that lead me to replace it all and install Steeroids rack and pinion system. We did a group by from Vette specialities and I am very pleased with the results. Maybe some of the other people can let it be known how theres turned out.

Id be interested in hearing comments from others who installed steeroids too rraider. How many hours did it take to remove your old steering gear and install the steeroids? Any major problems with the install?

It took around 8 hrs total. about 3hrs to remove everything the the rest to install. I did it over a 2 day period, to make it easier I removed my driver side header. No major problems on the install the only question areas I had was on the power steering line routing and the spacers at the end of the tie rods.
