I have a original 327 (70k miles) with a Quad 4 barrel 1968 Coupe. Ignition has been changed to a Mallory 6001M somewhere around 2009. Starts and idles great but when I pass through 2500 rpm and up to about 3000, there’s a slight hesitation in the engine. The car even jerks a little bit, like starting early in a new gear. Clutch is new last year and just past break-in period.

This hesitation is only under a load. I don’t notice it when sitting still. When running the engine in the dark of night I don’t see any light/sparks around any of the plugs or wires. Plugs are about 3 years old with only 500 miles on them.

I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with the ignition system and how to test that.

Any pointers or direction to take this would be very helpful.

Thanks
Jeff
