Well, CRAP...
I clocked the alternator to the position both Billet Specialties and March and without the upper bracket, the alternator still hits the hood.
The only thing I can think of is that the 993 heads I put on are taller than stock, or that the fenders were put on too low or that the motor mounts were screwed up when the frame was straightened.
Whatever the reason, I now have to figure out how to make it fit.
If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE let me know.
I found in one Chilton's or Haynes book that some small block Chevy's have two brackets that come off the water pump, not off the head and look like they put the alternator lower in the engine bay.
Again, I'm stumped. Short of fabbing my own brackets, I am out of ideas.
Any ideas are WELCOMED!!!
Thanks in advance guys & gals,

Ya know Dennis, it sounds like you've got your lower bracket in the wrong spot...

That's why I think the heads I put on are the culprit. They only have top holes on both sides, not lower ones. There is only one lower hole and that is on the intake side. These heads are higher compression heads from '68/'69.

Final Solution:
I had to switch from a 71 amp to a 62 amp alternator and pick up the Mr. Gasket Chrome "Hockey Stick" adjuster arm to make it work. Then, a little handy work with a flat file and she is back together with a hood that closes.
We are getting so close. Hopefully, if Joel and Micki will quit sending rain up to us this week, he will get all the attaching parts (pipe covers, headlight covers, etc.) painted and, most importantly, the RED on the Stinger!!!
I should have her back within 2 weeks if the weather holds...WOO HOO!!!
Thanks to all, and once again to Joel for the answer to the PM in helping me thru yet another saga.
I really appreciate it!
