Can anyone recomend the correct( or the best) head gasket to use on my 350.It will have vortec heads,mild cam,avg.compresion.

I did a SPparts Vortec head change and they supplied the NAL-10105117 mentioned above, .028, GM gasket on a GM block & head.
Get the head clean and flat as you can, slowly place the head on the block, do not drop an edge and ding it.

I suggest that you use new head bolts and that you torque them in steps until you get the proper torque. For instance, if the torque is 100#, step one is to 70#, then step two is to torque them to 90#, step three is final value. It may take alittle longer, but you lessen the chance of warping the heads and you don't distort the gasket. You will get a better seal and have less chance of the bolts loosing up later. If it's a non Silver Anniversary or Pace Car, I wouldn't worry too much about original engine unless you are going to NCRS the car.
