Has anyone installed a console megashifter in an 80 vette?

i am trying to find out how close the fit of the "camero" console model megashifter to my 80 vette? the knuckle draggin genius at b+m claim it wont fit at all in a vette but i bet someone with some ingebuity and a bridgeport like me might have put one in already so... anybody with a tip 4 me would be greatly apreciated ..thanks     stingrayjay
