GoodYear is replacing the GT II with a new "GT" tire. Think of it as a GT III

Any more info on the new tire, I'm about to order a set of GT II from tire rack.
Should I wait? Any release dates?

I replaced my tires a couple of months ago, at the time GT's werent available nor were the BFG radial TA'S. I went with Dunlop qualifer GT, so far I really like the tire and it has better ratings than both the others, plus much cheaper.

FYI, BGF TAs are still available on Flea-Bay (a company in New Orleans). My local guy can't get 'em 'cause they're on national B/O.
Not all sizes (like 295/50-15s), but if you're runnin' 255/60-15s, they have 'em, and for only $80. My e-brake bracket put a nasty groove in one and I have to replace it.

How are they on wet roads?
Years ago I had them on a 68 Coronet 383 and when wet they were slippery, thought they were a little hard.
Now don't go testing them out for me, just try em carefully if you ever have your baby out in those conditions.
I sort of like the look of original condition, tire rack is $98ea. and I think I might e-bay my oem's

I cant say much about the rain, havent had any in my area for awhile. They seem to give a real nice ride not harsh at all. I got my set from a friend, he owns Tom Z Wheels.

I talked to Tire Rack yesterday and they said that the plant was down for a bit but that they are back in production. For 235/60/15 I got an estimated date of 8/27.

The new "GT" was in a recent Tire Rack mailing:

After doing a little more research it seems this tire will replace the "HR" line as an all-season performance tire. I don't know if it will be offered with raised white letters but it's supposed to be made available in sizes from 15-22".

I think they stink on wet roads personally.
A few years back I put a brand new set of GT II's on my vette. I almost piled the car up exiting a rain soaked off ramp, and I was driving like an old lady at the time. I could never get any type of good traction on wet/damp roads with them. Needless to say, I replaced them shortly after with a set of BFG's. Never had a problem since they were put on in '03. Next year it will be due for another set of BFG's. They are getting down to the wear bars now, so I think I will send them off in a nice smoky blaze of glory this fall.

Hey Madmick,
I noticed you mentioned the 235/60/15 tire size.
No criticism intended here but the usual 15" sizes intended for the later C3s like ours are;
225/70/15 & 255/60/15
Just an FYI if needed.
