GM -366ci vs 350ci

OK Ben, here's one for you......... If memory serves, there exists a tall deck 427 that was used in trucks. The only part that would interchange with a standard 427 was the crank, which was steel (forged).

yeah when you do searches on "tall deck mark iv"

you get info about the 366 and 427 truck motors..

they seem to have shown up in everything from cargo trucks to dump trucks

from what I can find there appear to be 5 families of chevy big block

the W block (348,409, and a very rare 427)

the mark IV (396, 402, 427, 454)

the mark IV tall deck (366, 427)

the gen V and gen VI modern (427, 454, 502, 572)

ive seen tall deck 427's.. they look pretty different..

In 76-77 I had a driving job (class A CDL) driving a 23
foot box truck with a 366,4 speed,2 speed rear axle. (I managed to break the Saganaw 2 speed rear axle!) In about 71 I was a mechanic (rember that term-mechanic?) in a Mobil gas station and a regular customer
who had just bought his wife a used car For $150 brought it in for a tune up. It was a 61 Impala with a 348 with trips and a Powerglide!
The middle 2bbl was mechanicaly opperated but the 1st and 3rd were vacuum operated and frozen up from lack of use.I tuned it up and freed up the two carbs and went out for a test drive-what a tire smoker! One of the few multi carb cars I ever drove-A true experience!

Your not alone in that wish Ben, you are not alone.
It's been so long I almost forget what some of them were like. This has done me good. I should not say it here, but I love the old MOPARs as well. Lot's of fun.

One day real soon, I'll have a 6 pack smoker back on the road, Ben, and Ken, I'll let you both know what it feels like!
The last time I drove it, the tri-carb set up was working, but it was a worn out 396 and still very scary to drive, I'm wondering how scary the new 427 will be?
