Things have changed a lot in just 7 or 8 years since I last shopped for Vette tires. Not so much to pick from on the local level this time around. I can get the BF Goodrich Radial T/A for around 150.00 but was wondering what else people are running on that they like. Looking to stay stock for the '78 with raised white letter in 225/70/15. Prefer a good old American sounding name if that's still possible but don't want to pay for reproductions either. They offer different stuff in that size but I go online to check it and the manufacturer brags about it being a great tire for your SUV or light truck?
Thanks all, Jeff

Do a search on here, there are a bunch of tire threads.  I got Cooper Cobras for about 100 bucks each from Discount Tire.

I did see Cooper Cobras when I was looking. I'll have to take a closer look at them.

+1 on the coopers.  They are quite a bit less expensive but they are rated one speed rating higher than the BFG's

I've heard a LOT of good about the Cooper Cobras over the years. Prolly what I'll go with on the '74 if I ever get to the point of needing new tires on it. Thumbs Up

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.
Eagles were out of my reach. T/As were less money than you found on them. I did get them, and they are nice tires. Work well in the rain and are wearing well. Some of the guys are using Firehawks, and they have good opinions on them as well.

They don't make Firehawks anymore.  Only Cooper and BFG.  Or you can pay exorbitant prices for replica tires.

SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
I just looked for a set to put on "The Toy" - Tire Rack and Discount Tire had them for $130-$135 each.  I contacted a local outfit and got them for $132 + $20 for mounting, nitrogen fill and road force balancing.

Just bought Mickey Thompsons for my car. 245/60/15. That size looks way better than the 225/70/15 Firestone Firehawks they replaced. I also personally like the tread design better than the Coopers, have the same "T" speed rating as the Coopers, and, that old school Mickey Thompson name. I'll post some pics when I get around to it.
