Just an interesting (to me at least) bit of info that I just learned. BTW, I could use some help from any member who owns a numbers book.

I just cleaned up my driveshaft as part of my "let's see what other trouble I can get into" tour. LOL

Under all that rust, I found the part number, which appeared to be acid etched along the length of the shaft in inch-high numbers.  Kinda cool.
Noted that the yokes on the shaft are stamped SPICER USA, so my choice of HD, lubed-for-life, SPICER U-joints as replacements was a good one! I call that I-N-S-U-R-A-N-C-E.

Of course the numbers are now covered by primer and Eastwood cast iron paint.  Sure looks nice!!!!! I recorded the numbers for posterity.

Here's where I need the help. Could someone tell me if my driveshaft is OEM???  The number is 3921675.  The car is a '71.

The "tour" continues, probably into August.  Hate to miss the cruzin weather, but Penny needed the resto work.

Check out the pic of the driveshaft in my '74...this is the way the number looked originally. The numbers are 5/8" tall. The number you listed sounds like a GM number, so I'd say it is prolly the correct shaft.....
