hecko All!

I thought my gas gauge was broken in the full (right) position.  It is pegged out, but last time I ran the tank down to half, it started operating again.  Now, with the current fillup, it's hangin up again.  Will this work itself out?  She was used only sparingly before I got her...still is.

Thanks, Gang.Tongue

Sounds like the sending unit in the tank needs replacing. Had a similar experience some years ago with a brand x car...new sending unit solved it.

Get a shop manual and follow the troublehsooting section on checking it before replacing parts. Somebody here probably knows the procedure on how to do it.

Could be that the bladder in the tank is starting to deform, and hanging the float. If so, there's not much you can do, other than remove the bladder. I've heard of people being able to bend the float arm to clear the bladder, and getting by like that for some time. Either way, the tank will need to be removed to access the sender.

Ya might try an run some fuel injector cleanear in a full tank.(I know she ain't fuel injected but...) The solvents in it may clean off any varnish build up that may have built up on the unit from sitting. Just a cheap way out with a lil luck... Sometimes it works ... most of the time it don't...

I do believe all C3 fuel pump/sending unit assemblies come right out of the tank at the fuel inlet housing. No need to remove the tank. Mine came out easy that way.
