My car had been sitting for over 2 years before I had the work done and unfortunately the elements have taken their toll on some parts. Noticed the other day water dripping from the freeze out plugs on the sides of the block.

Can I change these myself or are they a major PIA. It seem as though the motor mounts are in the way of 2 of them, naturally it is never easy.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also I want to change the oil pan gasket ( small constant leak ) does not look that hard, just have to drop some of the steering linkage ?

You should be able to drop the pan to install a new gasket, just be very careful when putting the pan back in position so you don't slide the gasket.
Freeze plugs behind the motor mounts are a different issue. I'm not sure which is more difficult, removing the old ones or reinstalling new. Guaranteed to be a knuckle buster though. If you have access to a lift, you could take enough weight off of the motor, remove the mount for access, then change the plug.
The other option , not sure I'd recommend it but I've done it would be to replace the freeze plug with the expansion type, just stick it in the hole and tighten the nut thingy. If you go for the new plug, use a brass freeze plug, it's a marine application. Be sure to use a good sealant though.

In my experience, to replace "freeze plugs" (we call them welch plugs) it's an engine out job. If they have popped due to freezing or even rusting out, you may have additional problems.

Found a local mechanic that said he could change the freeze plugs as well as the motor mounts. Going to drop it off this week, I will keep you informed.
