Had a lot of blow by coming from my pcv and breather cap the other day after I nailed it. The culprit wa s a broken compression ring on #1 piston. What does it cost to buy a new set of pistons, rings, and bearings? and if I have someone press the new pistons on and put the rings on do I need to size the bearings or are they a standard size ??

How do I determine the size and replacement part # of the piston and rings or do I just bring it to an automotive speed shop??

Your best bet would be to take it to a shop, along with your bearings, they should be able to match it up for you.did the broken ring scratch the cylinder?

And if you decide to replace all rings and bearings, there are several companies that offer a "kit" of all parts needed except for the piston. I use Wagamon Engine Rebuilders. Their phone number is 612-789-9005. They are competitively priced, and the people who answer the phone are knowledgeable and friendly. They can also help you decide if you have the right camshaft for your combination.

Ron and Larry,
No damage to the cyl walls at all. There is some wear on the bearings, can I just replace the bearings and torque the bolts down or do I have to plastigauge all the caps?
