I am interested in changing the fluid in the punkin of my '75. How do you clean it to get all the goop out and start fresh without pullin it out? The clutches are slightly noisey and I want to avoid a total melt down. THANKS. The noise is mostly backing up. I checked ALL the U-joints. They are in good shape.

The only way to get it fairly clean without pulling it is to drill a hole in the bottom of the case, then tap the hole for a pipe plug. Then you can drain the fluid, and spray some carb/brake cleaner up around inside there from the filler hole.
Put in the plug, and refill, starting with the posi additive, then finishing with gear lube....
Otherwise, you can get a suction gun type apparatus, and draw out most of the old fluid, and go that route....

Sounds like a lot of work! And with my luck, after all that was done I'd STILL have to pull it!

I got a suction gun from a local auto parts store. Pretty cheap as I remember.
I pumped it out twice with some driving in between.
No noises or binding out of the rear since.
Go for it!

Hey Mark, I can get a tap and a pipe plug for less than $10. That's all you need.
