The short sections of "rubber" hose that connects my transmission cooler lines to the radiator connections are leaking.  Ive tried clamps but I think the rubber lines just need to be replaced.  Is there some special formulation hose I need to get for this or would a length of rubber fuel line work without softening with the trans fluid circulating through?

Regular fuel line will work fine. There are some specific application rubber lines that are a little better, as in thicker walled, but fuel line/hose will do the job nicely, as long as it is not the cheapest crap on the shelf.

Most any auto parts store should sell the reinforced (w/string between layers) neoprene style fuel line. Most importantly, is the proper inside diameter measurement. I've pulled 3/8" ID hose off both of the '78s when leaks were present. Obviously it's what ever the last owner had lying around. The wrong size hose will certainly start leaking again even w/clamps. I believe 5/16" hose is correct, but I'm not positive.

Thanks Jimmy, Ill check the ID closely.  Ive tried double clamping the ones that are on there and they still drip occasionally.

The metal lines are 5/16", and they should have flares on the ends that the hoses go onto.

Thanks Joel, that will keep me from having to remove the old ones and measuring before having the replacement hose on hand.
