Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Convertible. 350/350HP engine, power steering, 4 speed, burgundy exterior, black interior, black top, stainless steel brakes and optional hardtop. Rally wheels.
Any recommendations on swapping out original exhaust manifolds for a set of headers. Any particular brand? What range of costs am I looking at? |headscratch|

This is a bit too general to give you a good answer.

It depends on your engine and what you are going to do with/to it.

Are you driving on the street, racing?
Stock engine? Cam, high compression?

All of this makes a difference.

Look as several recent post in Fuel, Emission Control, and Exhaust Systems. There are a few different post, and a lot of info.

Okay. Small block 350CI engine, 300 hp. Engine is NOM, so originality is not an issue. Smog equipment already gone. Has Holley carb with Edlebrock performer manifold, electronic ignition and it's used for pleasure driving, no racing. |cool|

I used Hooker Competition Ceramic coated. Perfect fit, no problems, costs about $200 - $250.

Go with the smaller tube headers. 1 5/8 to 1 3/4. I would not go over a 2 1/2" pipe. 2" may be better.

If you are after pure top end, the larger of the two. For a street car, the smaller. Low end is more important there.

If the budget allows use ceramic coated. It will help a bit more, but wounds the wallet. The coating is the smaller factor in performance. But coatings will make them look better and last longer.

I put dynomax ceramic headers on my 79. They are very nice for the price, summit sells them cheaper than most hooker non coated headers. The fitment for me was never a problem. They came close to the steering gear but thats a good 1 1/2" away. You will need to modify you existing exhuast but any muffler shop can handle that.

I put a set of Holley Flowtech ceramic coated headers on my 79. Got them through a local patrs shop for $160. Bargain? Yeah!! |thumb| Beautiful finish and fit too!! |thumb|
