Right now it is the stock 350 tranny.  I know an additional gear or OD would help, but really not that much.

Annicorvette - what is PF?  I hope you made out OK in Katrina.  I am from south Louisiana and know all too well what took place in Biloxi and New Orleans.

Thanks,  Gurtz

If you have the ECM disconnected you are running way too rich.  The carb fails to a rich condition when inoperative, or when the mixture control solenoid fails.  That's why the bad fuel mileage.  You also have lost your timing advance.  Poor performance.

You can leave them disconnected but you will need a vacuum advance distributor and a different carburator.  It will run MUCH better, and improve the mileage.

I appreciate it Ken.  I was hoping to hear that.

Also, whomever has changed these components out, what were your preferences on carburetor and distributor?

Thanks, Gurtz

Go with the standard HEI distributor with a vacuum advance.  This is a good system and will still run your tach.   Or you could use the MSD version of the HEI like I have in my car.

For the carb I would still perfer the Qudra Jet without the mixture control.  Its a very easy install.   Everything will fit.

Thanks Ken,

Which unit would you recommend Q Jet wise?  I have been getting most of my parts from Eckler's.  I am looking in their catalog as I write this.

Do you think they could give me the right retrofit?  I have an MSD in my other play car and love it.  One of the other guys in the tank recommended changing the module and coil, cap/kit etc.  I was checking out Summit and noticed they have those with vacuum advance or would you completely change the distributor?

Thanks for your help again!  Gurtz
