Hi everyone.
my motor runs at a nice 185 degrees while i'm cruising. so no complaints there.
maybe i've just never noticed this before, but yesterday after a nice 40 mile cruise, i shut the car off and the temp climbed to around 205 degrees before it started to fall.
is this normal? it makes sense that the temp will raise after shutting it off but is 205 degrees too warm?
any thoughts?

Are you looking at the factory in-dash gauge? Being electric, it really shouldn't show temp once the key is off.
That being said, either way, yes, the engine temp will go up a bit once it is shut down, as the coolant has stopped flowing. Residual heat in the heads will keep the temp sender hot for a while, and may go up, so what you are seeing is not unusual. 205 doesn't sound bad to me...sounds reasonable.

yes i was looking at the temp gage on the cluster. it stayed up instead of dropping back to "0" when i turned the key off and maybe that's why i never noticed it before.
maybe i have a wiring issue now? wouldn't surprise me.
