Vette(s): 1971 T-top. I just had car shipped from my parents house in florida where it has sat for over 12 years..It is going to be a long project!
Well now that my newly rebuilt engine is at home in our garage awaiting the rest of the car to catch up...How should I store it? I was told to squart all kinds of things from wd-40 to trans fluild into spark plug holes and turn engine a few rotations.. Its pretty dry here in AZ but still I dont want any issues when the car and engine do get back together (this could be up to a year)

Thanks, Ron
Someday!

Mine sat for a year before installing with no problems.
We just wrapped it a big (new) trash bag to keep dust and critters out. On an unassembled engine, a light coat of motor oil on everything, then just wrap the parts.
North Carolina is a bit more humid than your area and like I said, no problems. |thumb|

i just use motor oil also..

in fact i filter and save my spent oil.

i store parts long term (like not sure if Ill ever need it) in drums of oil.

and smaller items in a zip lock back with oil in it.

Yes, oil it and wrap it. Put some oil in the cylinders. It will store for years. If you are actually going for years you may want to completely fill the engine with oil. This way it could last for decades.

in fact for items that are rusty i usually add some auto trans fluid to the oil..

cleans the parts up nicely after sitting for a while.
